"New" Labour and the EU
When Owen Smith stated that "Labour must heed its Blairite heritage" he was effectively passing on an instruction from the EU; endorsed by Margaret Oppenheimer Hodge, who allegedly orchestrated the coup against Jeremy Corbyn in order to get the Blairites back into power - using the Brexit vote as an excuse; despite the fact that the vote to leave the EU had more to do with the effects of EU Directives and Regulations (which had been enacted by New Labour) had had on traditional Labour supporters, rather than anything to do with Jeremy Corbyn.
In light of the fact that Owen Smith has brought the New Labour's heritage to "enhance" his campaign for Labour leadership we thought that it would be timely to remind anyone interested of some of the devastating effects of Blair's time in office, with an updated article that we wrote when we first set up this website a couple of years ago.
The Labour Party and the EU
It is verifiable that all of the problems that Britain has faced since 2010 have resulted almost entirely from decisions made by members of the New Labour; on behalf, and/or at the direction of the EU. Left wing Politicians who tried to con the electorate by disingenuously blaming all of our problems on the Conservative Party or the Banks at the time of the General Election.
Today the British, that is to say those resident in Britain prior to the opening of the borders to Europe by New Labour (acting as agents for the EU) have become second class citizens in their own country in terms of access to jobs, housing, healthcare, social amenities, equality and quality of life. The problem with housing was never addressed by New Labour politicians, even though they were aware of the fact that there was a rapidly increasing population; which they were actually promoting.
The model for this Utopian society that they were engineering, on behalf of the EU, was Multiculturalism, or to put it in context; introduced large scale segregation within existing settled communities.
No proper provision was made for school places nor adequate healthcare. In fact, doctors were paid larger salaries in return for fewer working hours and were allowed to opt out of “after hours” provision – these politicians actually reduced capacity at the same time as increasing the population; an act tantamount to criminal mismanagement.
These politicians on the Left would also like you to believe that they bear no responsibility for the effects of the financial crisis on Britain which led to a worldwide recession, making it much harder to get out of debt, and that it was all the fault of the banks.
In fact, the crisis was set in motion by Left wing politicians in the US (Democrats), under Clinton, who relaxed regulation put in place to prevent the recurrence of the Great Depression (1929 –1939) and then encouraged lenders to give, effectively, unsecured loans to poor families to enable them to buy their own property.
As a result the banks were left holding large amounts of worthless collateral (“sub-prime” mortgages) and to protect themselves the banks hid these sub-prime assets amongst, prime mortgage assets as Collateralised Debt Obligations (CDO's) and sold them on to other institutions. This resulted in a contagion of debt spreading throughout the financial system.
When it became clear that the financial system was awash with unrecoverable debt, it collapsed.
John McDonnell said a video of him welcoming the economic crash of 2008 was "a joke."A video posted on YouTube in 2013 shows the now Shadow Chancellor describing himself as a Marxist and saying, "I've been waiting for this for a generation!" (Independent September, 2016)
The New Labour politicians were in the middle of that and instead of acting prudently, they were borrowing and spending like there was no tomorrow (even at the height of the crisis, and not just on the banks who they failed to protect, and even continued up until they were replaced in the 2010); this was after they had previously proclaimed that they had put an end to “Boom and Bust"
The Labour attitude to fiscal responsibility prior to the crash was summed up by Ed Balls in 2006: “…Nothing should be done to put at risk a light-touch regulatory regime." – These are the same fiscally incompetent politicians who created the sorry mess that we are in today. But there is more to it than just the Labour Party’s fiscal fiasco.
New Labour Treason
There are other problems which are also directly attributable to the New Labour politicians. In 2007, New Labour signed the Lisbon Treaty (Ratified in 2009) and thereby continued the surrender of Britain’s sovereignty to the EU (Article 1-10); agreed to devolving Britain into regional Provinces of a Federal EU State to be administered by appointed EU governors (Article A8 - (1 to 4)); agreed to the formation of, and participation in, a European Army (Article I-40(3)); agreed to EU Law taking primacy over UK law (Article I-6); agreed to taking Britain into the Euro by 2020 (Article I-8), and a whole raft of other terms and conditions which effectively leave Britain impotent in Europe and in the rest of the world. None of these terms and conditions were agreed when Britain entered into trading in a tariff free Europe - the EEC– they were introduced* (reinforced) through stealth and deception by New Labour in 2007.
The Europe Minister at the time, Caroline Flint, admitted that she had not even read the Lisbon Treaty documents - but Blair, Brown, D. Miliband and Straw had no excuse not to know its contents.
"Actually the original terms and conditions were agreed by our politicians in 1972, but the agreements were kept secret from the British people by our politicians ever since - and little has changed since that time" - On Merkel's instructions Brown stated that since the Lisbon Treaty (2007) was only a "Reform" treaty it was not necessary to have a Referendum - he neglected to point out that the treaty contained the Constitution for Europe (2004) distributed within its texts; but with all references to the word "Constitution", along with any references to the paraphernalia of State (Anthem and such) removed. The Constitution for Europe Treaty (2004) treaty had been rejected in two previous referendums, by the French and Dutch in 2005 - but Merkel and New labour wouldn't allow such trivia to spoil a bit of treachery and deception against the British people.
New Labour politicians had won the 2005 election on the promise of a referendum on the EU, but that was deemed, by them, to be unnecessary since, in their view, there had been no significant changes in Britain’s relationship with Europe. Miliband played the same confidence trick during the General Election in May, 2015 – A referendum only if there are any Treaty changes (as defined by the Labour Party).
Based on previous experience, Labour would therefore never allow a referendum on Europe, whatever the circumstances - and now we see, from Owen Smith, that with any Referendum on Europe the Blairite cabal would always reverse any negative result on behalf of their backers in the predatory EU, the banking industry and multinational corporations.
Labour opened up Britain’s borders to allow free movement of workers; without any concern for the security, health or welfare of its own citizens at the time, or in the future; and deliberately ignored any negative impact.
Miliband et al., during the May, 2015 General Election campaign, pretended that Labour were able to limit migration from the EU but (a) they are bound by the treaties that they signed, which won’t allow discrimination against other EU migrants (e.g. benefit restrictions) and (b) in any event, they had previously shown no desire to slow down the inflow of migrants to Britain, for the same reasons that they opened our borders in the first place.
These are the same politicians - the Political Labour Party (PLP) - and they would have simply reverted to their tried-and-tested practices, which were applied prior to the election and, in reality, migration will simply accelerate by stealth and we would be dragged deeper into the EU - precisely the intention of Owen Smith - but he carefully avoided any talk about what would really happen if he was elected by not mentioning Blair heritage until after the final leadership debate - a measure of his integrity, perhaps.
These are just some of the decisions taken by the New Labour politicians who have left us in a mess which they don't want to talk about, or simply feign contrition. Indeed they wouldn't even speculate on how large the UK population would be allowed to grow or how such changes will be managed, or how the current population will be able to cope - Save for bringing in legislation to stop us talking about the problems that they have created - which is precisely the same way Corbyn would behave.
The "New" Labour Legacy
New Labour and the ubiquitous EU who have been infiltrated into British society for the past 43 years (and more), are responsible for Britain's food banks, low wages, zero-hours contracts, high rents, housing shortages, the NHS funding crisis and increasing inequality; since none of these would have occurred, or have been so acute, had New Labour politicians acted prudently and responsibly, and not put the country into debt, then left a note stating simply "Sorry there is no money left".
Interestingly, Blair has reportedly been given a new role in Europe which is directly linked to stamping out criticism of migration, and is seeking to bring in EU wide legislation to suppress free speech - So the ghost of New Labour, by proxy, continues to act for the EU against the interests of Britain and widen their interference in EU migration into Britain; and into Europe more generally. These criticisms also apply to other agents of the EU; the Liberal Democrats and the SNP.
This is actually only a small part of the problems that the Scottish dominated New Labour created in its pursuit of the destruction of Britain on behalf of the EU, which includes the systematic destruction of the NHS and Health Service, by placing the unsustainable burden of PFI around its neck: the massive growth of welfare dependency and a benefit system designed to redistribute the taxes of the British workers across the EU and around the world - a veritable migrant magnet and a "Free-at-the-point-of-delivery; truly international health service designed to hasten its destruction - a system ripe for exploitation and fraud.
The destruction of our education system with the dumbing down of examinations where multiple submission courseworks counted for up to 60% of the total mark, no wonder the OECD placed British pupils below 23rd on the international tests as a result of "Education, Education, Education" - which could not have been much more destructive if Blair mantra had actually been a statement of what New Labour had planned to destroy; and it is no surprise that they British youth were so educationally disadvantaged by New Labour actions that they presented little competition for the influx of foreign workers, who had not been subjected to dumbing down by their own governments.
Not forgetting the changes to our constitution - all in favour of the EU - and in new treaties such as Amsterdam (1997), Nice (2001) the Treaty on the Constitution for Europe (2004) - the latter subsequently secreted within the Lisbon Treaty (2007) - and not forgetting the trouble that has been created by that other Scottish group, the SNP after New Labour implemented the EU's Regionalisation Directive.
We haven't even mentioned that Brown sold off more than half of our gold reserves (58%) and scrapped tax relief on pension firms dividends in 1997 subsequently leading to the destruction of final salary pensions, since they became unaffordable. We have not mentioned Iraq - but it will be written large on Blair's epitaph.
"New" Labour was a disaster for Britain and the latest version of the Labour Party would bring back its protagonists and much worse, like an odious spectre rising from the bowels of hell to complete its raison d'etre - the erasure of Britain from the maps of the world and the removal of the British identity from History - Brexit is about preventing that taking place - it is about our survival.
